The Refine Pilates & Yoga instructors

I'm new to Refine

Welcome. Start here.

Never done Pilates or yoga? Here's the easiest path: start on the mat, build a routine, then move up to the reformer when you're ready.
Mat → routine → reformer

Step 1 · Week 1–2

Start on the mat.
Learn the basics.

Begin with beginner-friendly mat classes: mat Pilates, Hatha or Slow Flow Stretch. You'll learn breath, alignment and core control, the foundations everything else builds on.

More answers on the FAQ page, or read reformer vs mat Pilates.

I've never done Pilates or yoga. Where should I start?

Start with mat classes. Hatha, Slow Flow Stretch and mat Pilates are all beginner-friendly, and new members can try two weeks of unlimited mat classes with the Introductory pass. When you're ready for equipment, move to the Reformer Intro Pack.

Do I have to start on the mat before trying the reformer?

No. Reformer classes welcome beginners, and with at most 5 people per class you'll get plenty of help. Many people simply find it easier to learn the basics on the mat first, and it costs less while you build the habit.

Can I use the Reformer Intro Pack if I've done mat classes here?

Yes. The Reformer Intro Pack is for first-time reformer clients, so it doesn't matter how many mat classes you've taken. It's 5 reformer classes to use within 5 weeks, one per person.

What should I bring to my first class?

Comfortable, fitted activewear and water. Grip socks are welcome for reformer classes. Arrive 10 minutes early for your first reformer class so your instructor can walk you through the machine.

What if I'm recovering from an injury?

Tell your instructor before class, or consider starting with a private session so we can tailor every exercise to you. Private sessions start at $60 for 30 minutes.
